About SafeChoicePest

The pest problem is real.
The label is not enough.

SafeChoicePest is for homeowners and renters who have an active pest problem and a pet or a child in the house.
This site exists to close the gap between what a label says and what is actually safe.

Why this exists

Most labels hide the risk.
Knowing what to read changes that.

Pest control products use words like natural and non-toxic as design choices. There is no standard definition for either term on a product label. That gap leaves pet owners and parents holding a bottle with no clear answer.

SafeChoicePest was built to do the evaluation work that most product pages skip. That means reading active ingredient lists, checking formulation types, and comparing what each product is registered to do against the exposure scenarios that matter in a home with dogs, cats or small children. It does not mean assuming a plant derived label is automatically safe or that a conventional product is automatically dangerous. It means knowing the difference.

The goal is a short, usable answer: which products are both effective and genuinely safe for the household you actually live in. Nothing more than that.

What you will find here

Specific answers, not options.
Every post names a real product.

Pet safe indoor pest control

Articles on ants, roaches and spiders cover which products are safe to apply in a home with dogs or cats. Each post names the active ingredients and explains why the product made the list or did not.

Fleas, ticks and mosquitoes

Coverage for flea, tick and mosquito control on pets, in the home and in the yard. Posts include application order and timing so treatments do not need to be repeated.

Rodents without poison

Guides on keeping mice and rats out without snap traps, poison blocks or bait stations that pets can reach. Posts cover entry points, repellents that hold up to field use, and live catch options.

Pests out by zone

Location specific posts for garages, cars, sheds, campers and outdoor spaces. Each one covers the constraints that make standard advice impractical in that setting.

Our standards

What we will not do.

Every post on this site follows the same editorial floor. These four rules are not aspirational, they are the minimum for anything that gets published here.

How this site makes money

Affiliate links fund this work.
Editorial decisions stay separate.

SafeChoicePest earns a commission when a reader clicks a sponsored link and makes a purchase. That commission comes from the retailer or brand, not from the reader, and it does not change the price the reader pays. The two anchor partners are Wondercide, for plant based flea, tick, mosquito and household insect sprays, and EarthKind, for botanical rodent and insect repellent pouches.

These products were evaluated against the same criteria applied to every recommendation on the site before any affiliate relationship was established. A product is not on this site because a brand asked to be here. It is here because it passed the evaluation.

Important

What we are not.

SafeChoicePest is not a licensed pest control operator, a veterinarian, a physician, or a toxicologist. It is not a substitute for professional extermination in cases of severe infestation. It does not provide medical or veterinary advice, and nothing published here should be treated as such.

This site cannot assess the specific conditions of any individual home, pet or child. If a pet has had a reaction to a product, or if a child has been exposed to a pesticide, contact a veterinarian, a physician, or the Poison Control Center directly.
